Started researching the problem today.. TV would be ok for awhile than flicker (i called it fluttering) almost like a strobe light.
Googled (HAVE to love Google) it and at Answers.com they said remove/replace power control board, not a bad idea, not a difficult replacement, and the part was only about $80, though everyone seemed to be out of stock, so continued my search.
A few minutes later stumbled on a thread, same problem guy took it into a shop, repairman took off the back cut something, put the back back on, $200...
Come to find out this is a frequent problem, and there is a service repair bulletin out about it.
Remove 17 screws from the back of the TV, lift off the back of the TV (all of 45 seconds once you get the TV down) and cut a single jumper wire on the power control board (all of 10 seconds), replace the back and screws, walla, no more Flicka...
