Samsung's $40,000 HDTV

When comparing TVs here, I saw Amazon also sells an 84" Toshiba model for just $13K. But I got this one instead, and haven't regretted the purchase, because as a rather insecure male, it's well worth the extra $27K to have that extra inch.

I would have given it more then one star, but as i was watching discovery channel they showed a shot of a beach. The beach looked so real i got off my couch and jumped through the screen thinking it was an actual ocean... and apparently that isn't under warranty.

I was planning to go to college but then I thought to myself, "What would be a better investment?" Let's just say the Samsung UN85S9 85-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV looks a lot better on the wall than any college diploma could.

There are more than 300 comments that are just silly to read and nearly 30 ridiculous questions unanswered....

OMG, Dakota! I can't stop reading the "reviews"! Each time I think I found a favorite, the next one is even funnier! A lot of clever people out there! :killingme

Thanks for posting. I am only on page 5 of 33, so plenty left to read. This will be my 'go to' when I need a good laugh!

For awhile now, Amazon product reviews have been an outlet for the would-be comic writers. Remember the three wolves tee shirt? And the Wenger 16999 Swiss Army Knife Giant? These reviewers are getting ready for their stand-up stint at the Laugh Factory.

Umm No, don't remember either. Guess I must have missed those advertisements while I was busy having a life. :yay:

Just bought the 65" version, much cheaper. Beautiful picture. Voice commands. Havn't tried on Blu-Ray since I can't find remote yet in the boxes.

Have an 80" projection system in MD which I am leaving for next owners.

You don't have a good universal remote like a Harmony? :cds:

I have a universal programmable remote from Sony, but old. Used it on the Std Def Theater, not the Hi-Def in Family room.

I am missing remote for ROKU, so no Glenn Beck. or Deutsche Rundschau.

Still looking. Bought the latest Star Trek movie, with the new Kirk and Spock, but can not watch it on HI-Def. yet.

Harmony is the way to go, been using them for years now. Codes? Who needs codes? Online database, usb interface. Log in, select devices from drop downs, add activities to include devices used in that activity, decide which component needs what settings. Damn things can control almost anything that uses IR remotes, including fans and such.

Depending on the model, you can rename activities. So the sunroom setup I just pieced together last weekend, for instance, which has a PS3, a Roku, and a crappy Magnavox HTIB and a freecycled 57 inch DLP set, I broke the old Harmony 525 out of the old remotes box.

Took about 15 minutes start to finish to set the remote up. Has four activity buttons, now labelled "Watch Roku", "Watch a Movie", "Play PS3", and "Watch TV". Given the limitations of various parts of the system lots of switching to be done. Each of these one button presses accomplishes the following

Watch Roku - Powers on TV, selects HDMI 1 input, channel, play/pause controls are set to Roku, volume control is set to TV

Watch Movie - Powers on TV and HTIB, selects Video input #1 on TV, sets volume controls and play/puase stuff to HTIB.

Play PS3 - turns on TV, selects HDMI #2 input, sets volume controls to TV. No control over the PS3, since it uses bluetooth, but thats easily added for $14 or so by buying an USB IR remote for the PS3 and using just the USB IR dongle.

Watch TV - Turns on TV and selects the antenna input, sets volume to the TV.

When you are done, hitting the power button powers off all devices used in that activity. I know you can accomplish a lot of this with macros, but, having done a lot of that stuff in years gone by, screw macros.

Shout out to Chris Farley...

After seeing the sale price I decided I must have this TV now, the problem was I could not afford it so I sold my house to make the money, then bought a van parked it down by the river and anxioiusly awaited delivery. It arrived in perfect condition but to my dismay I was unable to fit it into my van. I decided to improvise and bought some bungee cords and stapped it to the side. Me and my new friends I met here love watching the included slideshow. Sadly that is all we can watch as I am no longer able to afford cable or even netflix. I would not reccomend buying this TV unless you want to end up broke and LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!
