SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — A Satanic holiday display has made a reappearance under the Illinois State Capitol dome.

Members of the Satanic Temple of Illinois came to Springfield, Ill. Monday to install a Satanic display in the rotunda. The installation depicts the deity Baphomet as a baby. Satanic Temple members said that the display is meant to represent plurality, unity, compassion, and empathy, and described it as "a display of positive values."

"The Capitol welcomes a diverse range of religions every year to display holiday statues during the holiday season, so we wanted to join in on that," Satanic Temple of Illinois Minister Adam said.

"Minister Adam" did not provide a surname.

This stuff always makes me sad because there's no reason for it other than to be an ahole. Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus. Period. It's not a time for every kook to come out of the woodwork wanting to celebrate whatever their deal is. And even if they want to choose that day to commemorate their whatever, there's no need to infringe on someone else's celebration.

That means no Satan, no Muslim, no Kwanzaa, and no freaking atheists. Get your own display and stop being an ahole by trying to ruin someone else's. It should be a simple thing for durhards who run cities to just tell these people, "No, you cannot ruin someone else's Christmas display. Here is a space for you over here, now STFU."

You know, these people say they just want respect for their beliefs, but I will never ever respect someone who has no respect for others.

You know it's amazing, but your post mentioning Kwaanza is th first time I have heard that this year.
Maybe it is dying out. It was nothing but BS to begin with.

I was going to post something like that last week, but figgered I'd get skewered for being insensitive or something. But I agree. I was watching a bunch of 10 year old tv holiday shows, and every one had a Kwaanza reference, even if it was just in passing. This year, I've heard practically nothing. There were practically no greeting cards in Hallmark, now that I think about it, used to be a large section.

Of all the varied posters we have here, is anyone celebrating Kwaanza?
