Sauce

Toxick

Splat
Mrs Toxick and I had us a delicious lunch at Asahi. We do this from time to time, and every time I go in there, I wonder what that pink sauce is that they use when they make their fried rice, and put into a bowl for you to dip your stuff into.

Anyone know what kind of sauce that is? Does it have a name? Is there a recipe available? I have a couple ideas for dishes I want to put it in, but I have no idea what it is.

Less important is that darker brown sauce that they also put into a little bowl for dipping. It's really heavy on the ginger, but thats the only thing about it I can identify - what's that stuff?

My daughter made me go there and try it so I could make it for her. Took me one try and I got it just about right on. The recipe that whome posted is missing one important ingredient and there is no butter in there IMO.

See, I try to like that "yum yum" sauce. I dip my shrimp in it every time I eat at Asahi because everyone tells me how delicious it is.

But it's just...gross.

The brown sauce is tasty, and I usually end up asking for seconds of that, but I can't get past that yuck yuck sauce.

You know what else is disgusting that everyone else swears is outrageous yummy? That revolting white cheese goober they give you with chips at Monterey. :dead:

I agree. My wife and daughter love the yumyum and the white junk. I'll make the yumyum for my wife, but I won't eat it.

The yumyum is kind of like using A-1 on a good ribeye. I like condiments that add to flavor, not hide it.

TRY THE OKADA RESTAURANT IN THE WILDEWOOD CENTER. THE MANAGER MAKES ALL OF THE SAUCES HIMSELF.

I agree.

The yum yum sauce tastes really greasy to me.....like it's made with oil or mayonnaise or something similar.

And that gross-ass white sauce at the Mexican place is just nasty, nasty, nasty.
