I blanch the tomatoes in boiling water until the skin cracks, then peel them and put them in freezer bags. You can use them for stews, soups, whatever. Easier then canning them.

I jarred (Is that a word?) bread and butter pickles from cucumbers that were delicious.

Do you have cucumbers? I'll post the recipe.

Make tomato sauce, pizza sauce and spaghetti sauce and freeze it, but not in jars. Good chance of them breaking. Use plastic food storage bags or tupperware type containers.

I had a huge crop of tomatoes one year and did that. About 10 years ago. Just found all of it still in the freezer. Think it's still good ?? :lmao:

No jars. Use the "ziplock" baggies, mark the date, and what's it is on the baggie.

People: please post recipes on how to save fruits/veggies from our fresh garden to save to use during the winter season.

TIA!

No, I would get rid of that old freezer right away.
