It isn't so.

I feel sorry for celebrities when stuff like this happens. These girls are minors - only 17 - and some sh*tbag on the internet thinks this sort of thing is funny.

:lmao: She's very perceptive..She has a point bout celebrites getting pounded by satire/parody sites and the under 18 stuff...17 in celebrity yrs is a whole lot older than 17 in Podunk. And I may be wrong, but aren't there Olsen twin brand names that are being pushed by them?? If you are going to enter the business of selling your name, kinda makes you open to mean ole media.

True, and you get paid handsomely in exchange for letting crazy people fantasize about you, stalk you and maybe try to kill you. You have to wonder what kind of loser would ever want to be famous. :ohwell:

I wasn't calling you a sh*tbag, Otter. :huggy:

I always wondered how much consideration politicians gave their children when thinking of running for president. Their kids are pounded/hounded by the media just because of who they are, no fault of their own.

So it's GW's fault Jenna Bush smoked that joint ... and Jeb's fault his daughter illegally obtained prescription drugs?

I'm just being onery :)biggrin:) ... I am sure there are pressures on public folks and their families ... but to blame celebrity status for one's actions is just coughing up yet another 'excuse' for inappropriate behavior, IMO. Brad Paisley's "Being a Celebrity" comes to mind. :lmao:

I've had that happen to me and I wasn't a celebrity and no handsome pay outs. :bawl:

No one is *blaming* celebrity status for their actions. But there are two things to consider, here.

One is, unlike movie stars and musicians and sports figures, these people did not SEEK fame. It's one thing to appear nationwide on the silver screen or play in a band on national tour or even seek national office. But these people didn't ask for celebrity, and did not choose it - they're only being bothered by the press because of who their dad is, or their brother is - if offered the choice, they'd love to remain out of the public eye. It wasn't their choice.

The second thing is, how would any of US like our dirty laundry aired out publically, daily, in the tabloids? Many in this forum don't even like it aired out HERE, in the limited readership on the forum. How would you like to be a nationwide joke, for something you said or did at a party? How would you like your past dug up - not because you ran for public office - but because a *relative* did. It sucks.

I don't like seeing this kind of parody either, since the Olsen twins aren't yet 18. Plus, they haven't gotten in trouble with the law, which I think makes celebrities fair game for humor. (I don't include people like Jenna Bush in my definition of celebritydom.)

Here's why I think someone chose the Olsens for parody:

1. They have a squeaky-clean image, which brings out the cynics who believe that it's all a pose. The cynics believe that everyone has skeletons in the closet.

2. Some guys have a certain unhealthy fascination with watching young girl actors grow into maturity (Alyssa Milano, Christina Ricci). I find that distasteful, not just because I have daughters, but also because that's like lusting after your sister or cousin.
