Scam or Legit?

Hey all,

Has anyone seen those ads in the classified of newspapers and such for secret shoppers? I'm trying to buy a house and don't have a lot of spare time so I thought this might be a good opportunity. I'm wondering if this is worth it, what you do etc. In the add it mentions restaurants and stores. TIA :howdy:

i actually did a few....you need a good amount of time, really. you do the shop..some pay 5 bucks, some up to 20 bucks....you have to fill out some paperwork based on your shop...very objectively, of course...

some companies reimburse you if you have to buy buy something, but most don't. to me..it's not really worth the effort...however, if you have a lot of time and can do between 8 and 10 shops a day, the money is ok....but it's definitely not worth it if you don't have much time....

Mystery Shopping

I used to do it all the time. I did it so that I could shop in places that I liked, and get reimbursed for what I bought. I never made much money, but I had fun. I just don't have the time any more, or I would still be doing it. Check out websites like volition.com for information.

I did it...

for restaurants. I was mostly a PITA so I only did it twice. Reservations were not allowed, very strict time of when you needed to go, had to file your survey within 12 hours of going (maybe less...don't remember) and only got a certain amount of your bill back. More trouble than it was worth.

They are SCAMS!!

Recently saw a special on one of the local networks regarding this. They are SCAMS. The station actually put people in place and tried to get involved. The plants ended up actually owing money in many of the cases covered.


Again SCAM!!

My wife and I used to mystery dine for Ruby Tuesday's. The only thing we did not get reimbursed for was alcoholic beverages. Oldnavy is right, you had to send a copy of your receipt along with a review of your experience. The review was easy, you just had to fill out an online form and add any explanations/comments.
