So I bought me a scanner here, mostly to listen in the Skywarn nets, but figured I might as well get one of the better models with this whole "trunk tracking" thing to listen in on the other services in the county. Then after it arrives, and I play around with it for a bit, I discovered that Charles adopted an all-digital radio system almost 4 years ago. Since Skywarn nets aren't active very often, I was planning on listening to those as well....but now I basically have a $200 weather radio
So, I'm wondering if anyone knows if the digital channels are still simulcast to analog in the area or they've all been shut down by now. I found a couple of references on the net to channels in the 155 range and some "TRS Backups" in the 866/867/868 range (that are analog/FM based), but I'm just getting static on those. The scanner keeps jumping from signal to signal as if there's something on it but I hear just static.
Got a feeling I'll just have to ship this back, then hunt for a "cheap" (being the subjective word here) digital scanner of some kind, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask and see if someone local knows the answer.
Thanks!
