Something doesn't pass the smell test here. Why would it cost 3X more per student in Somerset County? Are the kids triple-masking in that county?

The key word is "enforcement". The masks themselves cost bupkis; it's the cost of whatever enforcement they're doing that jacks up the price. And that is so subjective and could be anything someone to sit in classrooms and monitor; to the people who create posters to dot around the school; to the "consultant" they hired (usually a relative or someone else connected) to "train" the teachers in proper mask wearing.

You can ask the school board exactly what that money was spent on, but I doubt you'll get an answer.

I understand where you are coming from. My question is why does it cost three times as much for any form of "enforcement" in the 2nd least populated county in the state? Not really looking for an answer here but... WTF??!!

ridiculous.

It is like they want to do what they want without us questioning anything - never mind it is our tax money at play and nobody waste more money that our educational system.

Because that's how much money they got from the state/fed. Use it or lose it.

What would make sense is for each school district to submit an itemized cost estimate of how much they'll need and get funded based on that, but that's not what happens.

I want to see the one above Somerset where the per student funding is $27k. Holy chit! :faint:

Not sure. Either way, the teachers unions / BOE's are corrupt as hell and are selling out the students to line their pockets. And from what I understand, Maryland isn't the only state getting 100's of millions of dollars to do the same.

I have attended school Board meeting.
Here is how they work.

The school board decides what they wantto do. Then they have meeting and people speak.

Then the school board does what they want to, and tells those that spoke they had the opportunity to speak.

It's a joke.

427,000 Parents Respond to National School Board Association Labeling Them 'Domestic Terrorists'

This week, however, the leaders of almost two dozen parent organizations fired back with a scathing letter of their own—and it is epic. The letter, written on behalf of members of several parent organizations, made clear that the NSBA’s claims of “hate” and “terrorism” were shameful:

NSBA cites a tiny number of minor incidents in order to insinuate that parents who are criticizing and protesting the decisions of school boards are engaging in, or may be engaging in, “domestic terrorism and hate crimes.” NSBA even invokes the PATRIOT Act. The association of legitimate protest with terrorism and violence reveals both your contempt for parents and your unwillingness to understand and hear the sincere cries of parents on behalf of their children. To equate parents with terrorists dishonors the thousands of victims of actual terrorism around the world. Have you no shame?

The parent organizations pointed out that the NSBA’s call for the federal government to use its power against parents was in itself a menacing and “thinly veiled threat, intended to intimidate into silence and submission the very constituents that [the NSBA] members ostensibly represent.” I mean, what else would you call asking the president to sic the Department of Justice, the FBI, Homeland Security, the Secret Service Assessment Center, and the Postal Service on America’s parents?

By contrast, America’s parent organizations “unequivocally oppose violence” and are made up of, not “domestic terrorists,” but “concerned citizens who care deeply about their community’s children – and who are concerned by the direction that America’s schools have taken.” It’s no secret many parents across the country are angry with what is happening (or not happening) in our taxpayer-funded schools:

Citizens are angry that school boards and school officials around the country are restricting access to public meetings, limiting public comment, and in some cases conducting business via text messages in violation of state open meetings laws.
They are angry that schools are charging them thousands of dollars in public records requests to view curriculum and training materials that impact their children and that should be open to the public by default.
They are angry that pandemic-related learning losses have compounded the already-low reading, writing, and math proficiency rates in America’s schools.

And they wonder why the Parents are pissed off. We The People hired those "elected" offenses uh I mean unofficials and We The People have every right to tell them what to do or remove them!

Heroic FBI Agent Tackles Parent Expressing Concern For Student's Education

ASHBURN, VA—At a Loudoun County school board meeting last night, a heroic FBI agent violently tackled a parent who was expressing concern over his child's education during open comments.

This came after Attorney General Merrick Garland directed the FBI to crack down on parents who violently and menacingly dare to question the holy authority of the state when it comes to educating kids.

Since the FBI is highly experienced in covering up for sick perverts who use their power to corrupt impressionable children, Garland thought this was right up their alley. According to sources, undercover agents will infiltrate these cells of concerned parents by pretending they are parents who care about kids too.

Then we have this idiot who is running for Governor of Virginia who flat out stated in a debate that Parent should not have a say in what their kids are taught.

I suppose we will see how many agrees with him when the election is over.
Sorry to hear that.
We have an idiot RINO (I use this word very very lightly) "governor" here in Maryland. Hopefully voting will work and that idiot won't get elected.
If stupidity was an Olympic Sport, every ScamdemocRAT and RINO currently desecrating their office would be a Gold Medalist!
