School Bus Drivers on Cell Phone

bcp

In My Opinion
I think the county made this rule because most bus drivers are to stupid to multitask like a normal person while driving.
most normal people dont have 30 or 40 sugar buzzed kids in the car while driving either.

and Im willing to bet that most bus drivers would know the difference between to, and too

If the kids are acting crazy on the bus its because the bus driver is to lazy to keep them under control. When I rode the bus our bus driver did not let the kids get away with anything. He gave everyone on the bus assigned seets and would just pull the bus over when kids acted the fool. He would just sit there on the side of the road until the kids calmed down. The kids new if they didn't behave it would take them a lot longer to get home from school.

The bus drivers nowdays are a different breed who are to lazy to dicipline the kids.

Thanks for posting that!!! Bus drivers do get little support from the school [and parents] when kids act up on the bus. Unfortunately, I've seen a lot this crap going on in this county in recent years. Maybe it's all those city people moving to the area because of the base. Parents are trying to put the blame for their children's mistakes on teachers, bus drivers, administrators and take all responsibility away from their kids. Geez remember when the parent tried to sue the school last year because her daughter got a C in chemistry class.
blame those damn city slickers!!!!!

I will notify you when the MD state School Bus RODEO is taking place since you are so professional at driving.

Last year three drivers from St Mary County placed in the top 6 out of 26. Year after year Mr. Edwards places in the top 5 Nationally.

The new buses for the past three years are installed with a $3500 system that records 30 days of video and audio and infrared for night vision. The county also got 10 independent systems to retrofit 1 and 2 year old buses so these almost new buses would not have to wait around 10-12 years to have one. Most of these have two cameras that can zoom in closely and practically read lips if they have too. A few buses have a third camera showing the driver and door area to capture irate parents and other disturbances around the door area they are good for about 10-15 ft outside the door. Future cameras could be installed to capture light runners to supply police of tag numbers.

I am opposed to using the phone while driving a bus with students but in reality it is possible to be done responsibly. I guess they are tryingeliminating all distractions for drivers, just can't wait for disobedient students to be atop the priority list
Thank you....today you have taught me that Bus Drivers have a similar ranking to that of College Football....

Did you hear about Johnson? Totally cracked the top ten..oh yeah..he's gonna be driving on New Years Day!

You are an effing dumbass, a bus driver cannot correct years of lack of discipline from the parents, if they parents did their job then the kids would know better than to misbehave on a bus or anywhere for that matter.

Now a day if I bus driver corrects a child, they would have the effing parents yelling and screaming it is not their place.

Pulling off to the side of the road has more impacts to others than just the dumbass kid who is acting up. Other kids should not have to be punished not to mention the schedules of the other families and yes they do count.

How do you know all bus drivers are stupid and lazy? I bet a stupid lazy bus driver can spell better than you can.

Too bad that you don't know how to read -- look at the overhead signs at 235 and the Hermanville/Long Lane Intersection.

Bus Drivers

Ok -- final input here -- I was just pointing out that the St. Mary's county bus driver's, in my opinion, are like every other car driver out there, they have the "I'm going to multitask, i.e., talk on the cell phone, drive at outrageous speeds and use my 'the hell with everybodyelse' including my passenger(s) attitude" -- remember, from the beginning, I stated that I have no children -- are you willing to put your's at risk.

they are also very inconsiderate. i get stuck behind them in the morning and they don't pull off the road when they pick up kids. they just stop in the middle of the road like a silly goose and cause a huge backup of cars.

if bus drivers are so concerned with other peoples schedules they should let cars pass and not make everyone late to work.

I can't believe this post!!!......Unbelieveable!!!........You people have no idea what all is involved in driving a school bus!.............To the one who said they hated to be behind a school bus and thought they should pull over to let them by... OMG - give me a break!...... They have "STOP SIGN'S" because kids are either getting on or off the friggin bus! Some have to cross the street to do so. Think of what would happen if a school bus "pulled over to let kids off -.... people would pass, and that kid would get hit!........
As far as the cell phone thing......if that driver was talking on it "while driving", then get the number off the bus and call that school's transportation dept.
Believe it or not people - most states have to make their school bus drivers take classes to keep their CDL's up to date........ there is 1st Aide classes, CPR classes - plus several over classes to help the drivers handle their students.... Every yr. there is more and more to learn and deal with, and anyone out there that thinks driving a bus load of kids is a simple thing, then I suggest "you" go try and do it! Don't judge until you've walked in their shoes.
Yes, I'm one of those "stupid" school bus drivers... I've been doing it for 32 yrs and still going. Love my job and my kids I haul. The mothers of my kids always ask if I'll be back next yr......which makes you feel good - and that makes it all worth it. So if any of you think its a "nothing job" - ha, then you go do it.........go get your CDL, plus all the school indorsements - sit threw all the hours of classes - drive that bus in down pours, sleet, snow storms - the threat of tornado's.........Yeah.......any moron can drive a school bus....... Yeah right.............:lalala:

I love it. I love how these drivers think it is ok for them to talk on the cell phone, put on their make up, eat, or whatever when they are driving their kids around, and how they think they are the experts that is much more above a lowly bus driver.

But on one hand how can they think bus drivers are so stupid and beneath them, but then allow them to drive their children to school? With the only excuse they can't fit it into their schedules. Phfft... then jr does not come first afterall.

If they feel so strongly about cell phones as a diversion then it would not matter how many kids are in the vehicle or what type of vehicle.

I don't think you are paying attention to what I said you Silly Goose. Fist of all I know what is involved in driving a school bus. I rode the bus for many years and saw the bus driver in action every day.

I not saying cars should pass when kids are getting off the buss. But when a driver picks up a bunch of kids in the morning. they could pull of to the side a little bit and lets the cars pass. There is no risk to the kids onc they are on the bus.

I should get in front of a bus one mornign and stop my car every 1/2 mile or so down the road to check my tire pressure. To let you know what it is like to get stuck behind a bus

Yeah and I've watched every redskins game for the past 25 years so I know how to be QB. I mean how difficult can it be to grab the ball and hand it off to someone else or just chuck it to someone with their hands in the air.

not everyone can throw a 50 yard pass, but even a handicapt person can get a drivers licence and operate a bus.
