Girls elementary school is some kinda' messed up. I give her two checks each Monday - one for daycare and one for school lunch. Today she tells me she OWES $85 for school lunches.
I go back and look through my checks just to make sure I didn't miss TWO MONTHS. Nope, I'm cool. I ask her if she "forget" to turn some in. Nope, cool there, too! Soooooo, what happened to my money?

ok....say you put money in your childs account and you know for fact that your child was not at school and/or did not buy lunch and the account continually goes to a negative number

That thought came to my mind. And honestly, why wouldn't the school contact me before now? Well, the school didn't actually contact me - a teacher saw my daughter's account and told my daughter, who in turn told me about her negative balance. I definitely plan on calling tomorrow. Or maybe I should just have a little chat with the school in person and show them copies of cashed checks.

I have no idea what Chicks is at the moment.
Right now, Chick thinks it is great to pack her lunch. Heck, it gets her out of bed in the morning so she can do it herself!

I get notices ever 2 weeks saying how much he has in his account....the last 2 have been -$11 and -$22
I called the school when I got the first one and they said that he was charging 2 lunches per day....I said "he eats a lot, but not that much" and "he doesn't have enough time to eat 2 lunches"
he goes on a feild trip about a week later and someone charged a lunch that day....I have a strong feeling that I know where his money is going, but the school said they can't find out where the money is being taken out of his account at, just that his number is being used

I think it would be great if each student had to wear an ID Card, That ID Card could be used for identity purposes and it could be swiped (like a credit card) to pay for school lunches. Just a thought :shrug:

Not familiar with SMC Schools but in CC I believe we can add to the lunch account online... I think that is how wifey handles it.

When it comes to my money I always hand deliver the money to the people in the cafe and make sure they add it.
I know some can't do that sorry Chasey* give em hell.

sounds like an idea to me. i know when i was in school, all we did was enter a number into a little keypad...you could put in anyone's number you wanted lol.

In calvert when you type the childs account number in their picture shows up. I guess smcps doesnt do this.

No they don't....and they also can't figure out that a 4th grader doesn't go to the high school to get lunch everyday

It is how it 's set up in Calvert.. but I don't know about anywhere else. Also if you want to know where your money has went they can and will give you a print out. I busted my boy eating breakfast at school even though he was eating it at home. I couldn't figure where all his money was going.

Nope....all they have to do is put the number in the key pad and they get lunch
The person that is doing this to my youngests account, also emptied out my 19 yr olds acccount(she knows both numbers) and gave it a negative balance before the school "voided" out his number....I had to pay the negative balance on the account

When I was in elementry school, roughly 15 years ago, we had a system set up where when you went into the lunch line they had a wall of cards where you got your tray. They were organized by class and your parents put money on the account so the card worked like a debit card. However the card had your picture on it and when you went to pay, they looked at the picture on it to make sure it was yours. Once you paid, you put it in the sleeves hanging on the wall and it would be there the next day. I'm surprised we had that technology 15 years ago but it sounds like now the schools cant get it together.
