When I was on my way to lunch around 11:30 there were 4 kids w/backpacks walking through the parking lot where I work. They were walking back towards the middle school so I didn't think anything of it. Then after leaving Monterey's and going to the bank in the Hickory Hills Center, I saw the same 4 kids walking down Chancellor's Run Road  Wasn't today an ALL day for school?

These kids appeared to be around 13 or 14, btw.

Public schools have a full day. Some of the private schools, Ryken for instance, only have half days all this week.

Judging by what the kids were wearing....they are not in private school b/c of the normal jeans and tshirt.

And that is what I thought about the public schools, Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Ryken started back today, with half days all week. I got this from a 1st year Ryken parent, but he could have been mistaken.

Not sure about this part, but I remember a few years back, the private school students had some leeway about when uniforms were mandatory. Since they may have had trouble getting them, they are optional for the first week or so.

Or--it could be a head start on truancy, like rack'm said.

I do not know about all that. I didn't get back to my office until 12:45 so that would be an awfully long lunch for them.......

Nah - regular uniforms all week. Parochial starts tomorrow and gets out at 1pm all week. Not sure about Kings Academy or Montesori schools.
