School Uniforms....what do you think?

You're so bitter. Just because you don't have a pot to piss in doesn't mean other people shouldn't be able to enjoy their money.

I will compare my children and their attitude and work ethic to your children any day.

Not at all. I love the uniformed waitress who brings my food and keeps my drink filled. I also love our UPS guy, the garbage guys, the mail lady, etc. But not many parents dream of their child becoming one of them as a life career.

So what does a parent dream for their child as a life career??

Us "dirty job" guys have to wear uniforms to keep the laundry piles manageable. There is no shame in being a craftsman (and having to wear a uniform while being one).

CPA, doctor, lawyer, dentist, Physicians assistant, neuro-surgeon, oral surgeon, radiologist, pilot, RN just to name a few

Personality isn't influenced by clothing - choice of clothing is influenced by personality. You can tell a lot about a person by what they choose to wear (remember that word - "choice"? What a great word!).

That's why most of the Doctors, Scientists and Engineers are no longer "American" but imported from countries like India, Pakistan, and Japan just to name a few.. Did you ever stop to think "Why can't I find a doctor with the last name Jones or Smith in the Yellow Pages??"

Most American sixth graders don't even know their multipication tables anymore, becasue it retards their creative thinking process'.. persona;;y I think it just makes them retarded.

you better take a good look at Japan and China their educational system is far greater than ours and their kids wear uniforms and go to school 6 days a week, 1/2 day sat.

Because they are smart enough to come here and have us pay them to live in OUR country!!

We are still a superpower, but on who's brainpower? We're doing it on the backs of immigrants from other countries. We, as a country, aren't producing the brain trust needed in the numbers needed to support our own population.. but we feel good about ourselves so it's ok!!

I didn't say there was. It takes all kinds of professions to keep us in the style to which we are accusomed. But fashion designers have a profession as well, as do clothing store owners.

The kid buys clothes from Hollister, which get trucked in by the delivery driver, who then has his truck serviced by the mechanic, who gives his kid a couple of bucks to buy a shirt at...Hollister.

we are a society of wants not needs. these kids see others at school wearing stuff that they cant afford and it makes them jealous. Some of these well off kids know this and they will purposely flaunt it in front of the less fortunate ones, and they wonder why the are getting their azz beat.

Hell last year I got my daughter a digital camera for xmas, i think it was a 2.0 megapixel, well a month later i see her with a 5.0 megapixel camera that costs about 250.00 at that time, she said her friend had money and she had a couple of cameras so she just gave it to her. That pissed me off cause this kid has money to throw around and lets the others know it at school.

You said Parent dreams of life career, and you specifically called out UPS waitress etc.. how do you know that won't be what makes them happy?

What kind of career were you hoping for your children when they were younger? Because if they didn't do their math, and learn their multipication tables, or learn how to conjugate verbs waitressing might be it for them.

And from what I understand UPS can be a damn good career to have, though I can't prove it by the 6 months I worked for Fed-EX..
