I'm torn on this subject. I remember thinking it would be good if public schools required uniforms for several different reasons, but on the other hand, would it really change anything? You'd still have little cliques, they'd just all look alike. You'd still have the girls that are more interested in boyz than in education. Uniforms do not hide the have's and have nots. If studies have shown that it improves the learning environment, then I'm all for it. Outside of that, I see no reason.
