My question is, are the bases open as usual or are they closed (gov't) due to the "Day of Mourning"
Gov't and federal offices will be closed. Now how each individual contractor office wants to work is another quess...

I'm presuming that he is off because he works in a government building on the base.

BG works for a contractor outside the gate and she has to go in to work. :ohwell:

C'mon... Charles County schools staty open even if there's a state of emergency. Look back at Isabel when every other county was closed 3 days longher than Charles County - and we still had 3 snow days taken for it.

I had to come in and get some travel stuff done.. I'm the lone "blue badger" in the building.. Everyone else in the building is eerily happy and smiling.. should I be scared?

And I'm never gonna forget that fat slob telling the class first thing in the morning "We go on today like any other school day, yesterday was just another day. Forget about what happened and if anybody knows anyone who died in the attacks, forget about it and proceed with this day as normal."

For the record, this was on September 12, 2001. The school's attitude was just that, that 9-11 had never happened. I speak for every person who was in that school when I say I wanted to put a fist in his mouth. It is a very hard thing to do to overlook the events, the tragedies, of the day before. To proceed with school is one thing, to act as if nothing happened on 9-11 is another.
