Oscar winner Martin Scorsese has sign on as an executive producer of East Greenwich native Chad Verdi's film about the life of Rhode Island boxing legend Vinny Paz, according to Verdi.

Verdi, who bought the rights to the Vinny Paz story in 2009, said five different writers had worked on the project. He said it was his personal mission to make the movie, and he had already signed on scriptwriter and director Ben Younger.

IMHO, nobody will make a better boxer than Christian Bale's Dicky Eklund.

But why would anybody want to make a movie about a wife beater aka Vinny Paz? How craptastic. Let's glorify the man that used his wife as a punching bag.

I was actually momentarily excited thinking of a movie about Jedi Mind Trick.

Martin Scorsese made a film about a cocaine-addicted Irish-Italian member of the mafia who beat his wife and stole a lot and it was the best movie ever!


Goodfellas is my all-time absolute favorite movie ever.
