SCREAMING Headache

This morning I woke up with a "SCREAMING headache." The weather is looking like we're gonna get rain, thunderstorms, whatever.

I often get headaches that feel like "ice cream headaches" when the weather gets like this.

Anybody else feeling similar today; or is it just me?

I read somewhere that drinking two glasses of Gatorade will alleviate a headache. Anybody ever try this?

I have had a headache for 4 days now... I checked my blood sugar and it has stayed in the 165/106 range. Not good. :coffee:

I woke with a headache too. Usually get it when the pressure builds before a storm and it's better once the rain starts. My neice gets migraines if she eats anything with MSG and Gatorade will help to alleviate it quickly.

I think you meant 'when the pressure DROPS'. Right? Because rain/snow are caused by LOW pressure atmospheric conditions.....said the "amateur weatherman."

Sorry, I meant blood pressure. :ohwell:

Oh.....well I tend to have high BP; runs in the family; BOTH sides. Lucky me, huh? The meds I take are Phenytoin Sodium.
I'm guessing THAT doesn't help matters much either. The part that sux is, I have to take them.

:killingme Yes, you're right. Guess I was thinking of the 'pressure building" in my head.

Well, I'm not a diabetic; are you? I'm Hydrocephalic; and shunted.

"Bad" weather usually has this effect on me.....really bothersome and uncomfortable. Since I don't have any Tylenol, I'm tempted to try that drinking Gatorade thing.

Is your shunt functioning? Would you know if it wasn't? Might want to check in w/your doctor if the headache persist...hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for the well wishes Lilypad. Yes, it is functioning. There are obvious/telltale signs that indicate when it is not functioning properly.
I know them painfully well.

With the type of shunt I have, I get high pressure headaches if things are not just right; low pressure weather systems being one of those "things," strangely enough.

Otherwise, I get along rather well. My short-term memory stinks though. 6 or 7 cranial surgeries and poking around in what "gray matter" I have is to blame.

My uneducated guess; having felt this way before; tells me it's just the weather.

It appears, it was the weather that caused my agony yesterday; been that way for as long as I can remember.

I figured I guessed right. When the low pressure centers move in, that's what happens. Then, after it passes and the sun comes back out, everything's fine. I did get one sarcastic possibility; 'maybe your ponytail's too tight.' PPPTTTHHH!

I get weather related headaches whenever a front is moving in. Storms coming, a definite sinus headache. If I catch it in time, with aspirin, it subsides. If I try to ignore it, it gets bad enough to make me nauseous enough to have to go to bed. My sinuses feel bruised to the touch afterwards.

The worst for me is when the weather changes from humid to dry. Those are the hardest for me to control and aspirin only works some of the time.

Aspirin, early, is the only thing that works well for me. Applying firm pressure for a few minutes to my temples also seems to help a bit, too.

I told my young co-worker we must have a storm on the way... she checked the windows 7 weather gadget, and said, "You must be psychic!! it shows storms tomorrow."

I said, "No, just arth-ritic..."

I get THAT way in the winter. I'd rather it be hot......well, kinda.
We just don't get "cool months." 'round here it goes from hotter-n- ten H*ll's to Freezin'-a** cold. Spring? Fall? Huh? What?
