Missed a bit the past few days...35 hours of shooting in 48:coffee:

Among other things...this Lil' Lady was rescued by the road...had her one night and woke with her perched on my pillow:eyebrow:
She is now at the Wildlife Recovery and Education Center...hopefully she'll make it.
Congrats to the everyone who entered and the recent winners in the polls:yahoo:

I love owls, they are so beautiful!

That she is...I named her Latte' She was very calm (for a screech) but unfortunately she had some head trauma as she wouldn't open her eyes at all...lots of energy and even ate from my hand...I think it was a car that hit her:(

Awsome bird, but couldn't you get a picture when she wasn't blinking? Just kidding. Hope she does well!

I sure hope she's going to be okay. She seems so calm and sweet.

Waking up and having her perched on my pillow was a treat:whistle:

She gets around but the trauma is the concern...she pinged off a car I guess...I'll know more today. She was on the side of the road and was standing over an egg.

What a beautiful creature she is. Post on how she is doing...I'm interested in how it turns out. I hope she pulls through!

This story is getting sadder and sadder. What a shame. But perching on your pillow must have been really awesome, glad she didn't accidentally catch on the face.

She's lucky you saw her! --Tell me --how can someone not know they hit a bird that size? ( I guess this is a stupid question -people hit humans and never know it!) I can't help but think about that poor eagle that got hit on Rte 4. :(

Apparently this happens to the Screech's quite often...I don't know...people hit people and don't stop...go figure. The people there called me and nobody there wanted to touch her...they were going to leave her to the dogs/coyotes...so I left the airport shoot and picked her up. They sent an image to me from a camera phone...after asking the basic questions I determined she was worth saving. I have hit small sparrows and thought I had hit a tree...loud!

Yeah--NO kidding---the feather plume alone but the sound ugh! You rescue large fowl? Thats cool....kudo's to you-injured animals can be nasty but then again so are injured people.
I'd be afraid to touch her too---those beaks are meant for tearing meat!

Poor Latte' has opened her eyes, has energy, eating well and even mothering a baby screech...they pinned a wing...the bad thing is she is 100% blind in one eye and are determining how blind in the other. Unfortunately federal law dictates she be put down if blind in both eyes. She is so calm...it's sad.

If they say she'll be put down...I wonder what the penalty for breaking and entering, stealing a raptor and keeping it would be...waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! My cell is on my site...if I disapear...shoot a call:)
If she has any sight in her one eye they will keep her for educational purposes...poor kiddo.

Ah, I was going to ask you how she was doing. That's a shame. What a beautiful bird. I hope she has some sight in the one eye and can be saved. :frown:
