Sometimes I think the politicans REALLY are that dirt stupid.
Guns in crime - I know! - we will make everyone turn in their guns. Note: CRIMINALS won't be doing that.
Need tax revenue - I know! - we will tax millionaires with a special tax. Note: Rich people can move to another state - sometimes with the stroke of a pen.
We need people to make solar panels - I know! We will help some companies build them, so others will get on board. Note: OTHERS realize they can't compete on the open market with a company Uncle Sam bankrolls.
We need people to stop driving old clunkers - I know! We will PAY them to return old cars so they will buy new more efficient American cars. Note: FOREIGN cars were better choice.
We need guns off the street - I know! - We will pay them to bring in their old guns - Note: Gun owners can unload beat up pieces of crap to buy newer better guns.
And so on. They live in this dreamland of how things OUGHT to be. Not how it DOES.
When I teach kids how to play chess - and I have taught many classes - I try to impress on them that their opponent is TRYING TO WIN and will NOT make the moves you think he should. It's true in sports, it's true in business and it's true in life - start thinking about how things DO work, and not how you WISH they would.
