College of Southern Maryland (CSM) continues growing an initiative to support students, staff, and faculty who experience food insecurity by recently placing a second Hawk Feeder station at the La Plata Campus in the atrium of the Francis P. Chiaramonte, MD, Center for Science and Technology (ST) Building.
Hawk Feeder stations rely on donations from students, staff and faculty. Since the Feeders launched in 2018, staff and faculty have participated in “Casual-for-a-Cause Fridays” by donating non-perishable food items directly to the stations, found at each campus, and in return, wear jeans on Fridays. Donors have also provided toiletries and hygiene items as well. CSM faculty member Bill Luyster has donated his time and talent to create five Hawk Feeder stations across CSM’s four campuses.
