I remember Cannon from last summer I think, poor boy.
Someone needs to help him. Lots of new dogs... hopefully some of the older ones get adopted out.
Cannon and Pebbles are both in foster homes and are treated as one of their own. Cannon is being worked with and learning to crate train - he's a very high energy dog.
While we may have many dogs coming in, we also have many being adopted - over 21 dogs were adopted since May of this year. Since we are NO KILL, our dogs will stay with us until they do find loving homes - and for some dogs, it does take a little longer to find the right home for them. We don't give up on them.
Remember Rocky - the fluffy big white dog that got pulled from Tri Cty? He stayed with us for a long time - maybe a yr or two - and went to a great home where he is spoiled rotten. Paris and Courage were in foster care approximately 2-3 yrs - both found awesome homes. Paris' family fell in love w/ her, and now Paris has changed the extended family's view of the bully breed - they know how much love a bully can give now.
Some dogs just take longer than others - we don't particularly pull all the 'cutest easy to adopt' dogs - we pull the 'invisible' dogs - the dogs that many don't want to deal with due to breed, age or illness. They are still good dogs deserving of a home, even though they may be heartworm positive. If our dogs don't get adopted the first month..or the first 6 months or 2 years...we don't send them to Tri Cty just because they aren't placed quickly.
We are primarily a dog rescue organization, last year we found wonderful permanent homes for 258 dogs and 29 cats. We have a great network of volunteers and thanks to them, we can continue to help animals and the people in our community.
to all that have helped and volunteered in any small way, shape or form!
