A question to all from the Ruth E. Parks family...how do you go about getting your septic tank replaced? If anyone knows the details on who is a good contractor, how to navigate the county's regulatory waters and how long it may take from start to finish I would appreciate the information. We're new to Charles County and want to make sure that we are doing things right! Ruth E. Parks

Does it need to be replaced??
You ever said it needed replacing should have been able to recommend someone.
The planning and zoning for Chuck county is on the second floor of the Charles county Government center on Washington Ave. in LaPlata.
Chas county website should be able to reaveal a survey of your present septic and drain fields. Good Luck. Welcome aboard.

big bucks.
I think my tank was around 2500.00 about 10 years ago, and then I just had to replace the field 5 years ago at the cost of 10,000.

I weep for you.

Pick up those old yellow pages and do some finger walking. Get a few estimates and go with whom ever makes you feel good. Are you sure its the septic and not the drain field though? Not much to go wrong with a septic tank.

Unless it happens to be one of those old pre concrete models. Like mine was, that finally rusted out on top,, like mine did, and then decided to cave in while carrying the new universal into the basement,, like mine did,

I have never stepped so fast in my life, I felt the ground giving and I was like in the door before the snow had a chance to fall in the hole.

Now Im the proud owner of the 1500 gallon duel tank model. concrete. thick concrete. no more turd dancing for me.

Helps to be on your toes. When I was in high school one of my class mates fell in one and didn't make it out.
