Shark Attack near Chesapeake Beach

I heard that a dog was attacked by a bull shark in the waters off Chesapeake Beach/Randle Cliff. Anyone else hear about this? I didn't see anything in the newspapers.

Haven't heard about it. Bull sharks are occasional visitors to the Bay as far as the Bay Bridge even, but haven't heard of much interaction with people or pets. The area around Randle Cliff has a large number of rays and skates, which are often mistaken for sharks as their 'wings' sometimes break the surface and look like shark fins. Maybe the dog was messing with a ray.

Too much shark week I think

As the poster above said, bull sharks can and do visit the bay as well as the Potomac. However this would have surely hit the news--and unless it was caught, how do they know it was a bull shark?

It was caught in a seine net off Chicken Cock Creek on the St. Mary’s River near St. Inigoes.
