Shattered lense

because I dropped it  and want to replace. Thought I'd see what I can find on ebay but not sure how to match it.

The lense says Minolta AF Lens 35-70, however there is some smaller script on the part that extends out that says Tiffen 49mm SKY1-A Made in USA.

What do I need to match when searching for a match...the Minolta or the Tiffen?

TIA!

You want to match the Minolta AF 35-70mm! It should also have an aperture listed on it something like 1:3.5-5.6 or 1:2.8.

The Tiffen is a filter that you can unscrew from the front of the lens. If just the filter is shattered you may not need to replace the lens. If the sky filter on it is good still, unscrew it and keep it for when your new lens comes in. These help to protect the front glass on your lens from scratches and all.

Good Luck.

I think....
Minolta is the lens. 35-70mm is the focal length.
Tiffen is the filter/protective cover (it's a thin piece of glass that screws onto the lens itself). 49mm is the thread dia.

Thank you. The glass on the lense is what is shattered and the casing (?) that holds the glass where the words are that read Tiffen is cracked all the down.

The apertaure, which I just noticed, thanks to you is 1:4(22).

Would this work

This TOKINA AF 370 Macro Camera Lens 35-70 mm f/3.5-4.6 zoom lens would be perfect for any photographer. It fits Minolta and Sony film and digital cameras. Original instructions are also included. It has been used but is in perfect working condition. The lens aperture may be selected manually by a control on the camera or automatically by the camera. The maximum aperture of this lens is f/4.6 at 70mm.

Is it just the glass in the Tiffen filter or next layer of glass under that. Unscrew the tiffen filter off the lens, and see what that stuff under it looks like.
