so, the girl has ben home witha low grade fever (averaging about 100) for 5 days now. Took her to the dr. friday and the strep test came back negative. the first day or two I wasn't really concerned but 5 days seems like a long time to have fever with no evident cause.

Call the doctor and tell them she is still running a fever -- they may repeat the test. Until you can see Dr., make sure she gets plenty of TLC, rest, fluids, cool washcloth on forehead and keep her bundled up in bed. It may just be a stubborn virus that will go away on its own, but you never know.

Keeping bundled up with a fever is a :nono: It makes the fever higher.

Son has had an on and off gastrointestinal/low grade fever thing since Thursday. Usually after 4-5 days I would call just to notify my pediatrician's office but right now unless he is dehydrated there is really nothing that can be done except BRAT and pedialyte.
If I were you I would call back just to inform them that the fever is still there and see what they suggest.

My daughter is sweating so bad i can't keep clothes on her. When she opens her mouth all the slobber comes out. I hate it when she teethes. My son slept when he teethed. I am starting to like him more...lol! She ants me to hold her but she is so hot. When will it end.

pretty sure mine's not teething, she's 3 yo. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm really starting to get worried now. Last night in the tub I noticed she has a couple of red spots too. one on her shin and one under her arm.

Did she have the chicken pox vax?

i think so. I don't really remember. I'm taking her little brother in for a check up today. I"ll ask then.

the pox vac doesn't prevent them from EVER getting it, but it does make it so if they by chance do get it, the case should be mild

BTW did they do a quickstrep test? these ALWAYS came back neg for my daughter and then 3 days later she'd have it. if you can have them test her again.

hope she feels better soon, always feel bad for little ones, mommies want to fix their hurts but there's just nothing you can do but wait :bawl:
