Show your support to the family of a fallen Hero

It will be recorded in the hearts of those in attendance.
That is a given, of course. I was leaning more towards recording the funeral route, the stretch of it, maybe some heartfelt comments from the crowd and showing our support.

Well, I'll walk to Rt. 5 from my house, by the BP Station and show my respect for this young man, patriot, and hero.......:patriot:

Prayers to his family.

It would be nice to have a video of the crowd as well as comments from some of those in the crowd along the route to give to the family. I see what he is trying to say.
I would never want to forget this event if it were a memeber of my family. It shows so much love and support from the community, to me it would be a beautiful part of his memory ( Ryan ).

Myself and several others are working with some of the major news organizations and hopefully they will come through...:coffee:

I didn't say comments from me or my support nor did I mention I would want to be anywhere around a camera or recorder.

IMO I think it would be nice for the family, especially the parents and Laren, to have a video of this. I think it would be special to them knowing Ryan died as a hero and that we, as a community, can come together during a time like this. Especially since he was over there for our country. Afterall, the family and friends will only get to see this support through a car window while driving up to Arlington.

Just heard that the fire departments and police will be at the county line with banners, flags, etc.
Lauren's mother is a teacher at St. Michael's so that school is also planning a big turnout up in the north end of the county.
Are you talking about the Charles/St. Marys line? Never heard of St. Michaels, is it in Northern St. Marys.
I think that if there is going to be a turnout in the Charlotte Hall area it would be best to have everyone in one large area, Rt. 5 is too broken up by stores and entrance ways, as I mentioned before the area between PNC Bank and Mt Wolfe Rd, would work good or maybe along by McKays Plaza at Mohawk Dr. right at the county line.
If Mechcanicsville VFD is planning something at the county line, I'll check with my department (Hughesville) and see if we might be able to do something just inside Charles County.

Subject: Support for a fallen brother

I would like to ask your assistance in helping support a local American Hero.

Sgt. Ryan P. Baumann, 24, of Great Mills, MD, died Aug. 1 from injuries sustained when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan. Sgt Bauman was assigned to the 101st Airborne in Ft Campbell, KY. Sgt Baumann's fincee lives just south of St Mary's City and Sgt Baumann's mother and step father live in Great Mills, MD.

His funeral will be held at Brinsfield Funeral home in Leonardtown (across from College of Southern MD) at 0900 Monday August 11, 2008. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. We are trying to get people and flags to line the funeral's procession route starting in Leonardtown to show our respect and appreciation for this brave young man that made the ultimate sacrifice. The procession will depart Brinsfield Funeral Home between 10:45-11:00 and proceed from Hollywood Rd turning right onto Rte 5 north.

If you or anyone you know can help support this effort it would be appreciated. We would like to show Sgt Baumann's family that St Mary's County and Southern MD support our military and are thankful for the freedom we enjoy because of their sacrifices.

Thanks,

David Owen

The Company I work for (a major Defense Contracting Firm) is giving all of its employees 4X6 inch flags to carry at the funeral route. Hopefully other firms will do the same.

My company is doing the same thing, but it isn't just for our company, we will also be handing them out on the route.

Thanks Vrai you're golden!!! :howdy:

Last, awesome support by those companies being flexible with their employees who want to support this effort and getting flags to the people also. As a community we are doing the right thing... :buddies:

Chernmax, I know you were looking for information about Ryan's arrival. I just got a bulletin from Lauren and she said that they will be going to get Ryan tomorrow from DE and it should take them about 4 hours to return with him. She didn't give a time or any other info.
