shrimp boil questions

We want to do a boil this weekend but I've never done one and am looking for any tips or suggestions. I have corn on the cob (frozen half ears) and red potatoes and was thinking of red onion, shrimp, kielbasa, mussels, and maybe clams. What seasonings and/or cooking suggestions do you guys have?

There is actually a crab boil liquid made by (I think) Zatarans. That is wonderful plus add some old bay. You also may not wanna use the frozen corn it always turns out yuckie if not fresh.

I thought the same thing but I don't have an option this early in the year. I'll check into the liquid. Thanks!

Start with a big steam pot like you would use to steam crabs in.

We usually add sausage (kielbasa), potatoes, carrots first. Hit it with old bay and let it cook for 45 min to 1 hour because those items need to cook longer. Next we add any other seafood on top (clams, scallops, mussells, crabs and shrimp) with corn, and steam it for another 45 min or so adding old bay to your liking. You can use the juice from the bottom of the pan to drizzle over the top every so often.

Corn and shrimp will probably always be overcooked, so you may want to put them on last, your call, but they usually end up tasting great anyways.

Next lay out newspapers on picnic table and dump it all out for everyone to enjoy

I wouldn't recommend onions in the boil, they tend to get soggy. Each boil is different, so have fun and remember what works for your next one!
