GAO said:
"HSA-eligible enrollees who articipated in GAO's focus groups generally reported positive experiences, but most would not recommend the plans to all consumers. ...generally understood the key attributes of their plan.....Most participants were satisfied with their HSA-eligible plan and would recommend these plans to healthy consumers."

If someone would keep track of all the "Will never work" complaints by the Democrats when W proposed the solution, the Dems would soon have nothing to complain about.

Can you document this?

Why is it that when faced with a truth they don't like, the first response a Liberal has is not to find a legit criticizm of Bush - and there are plenty - but to make an ad hoc attack with no basis in reality?

Are you guys confusing HSAs with privatized investment accounts i.e. Social Security reform? The reason I ask is that Bush had nothing to do with HSAs. They've been around for years.

What's interesting about this report is it confirms the Wal Mart philosophy of healthcare, that being that people with medical insurance do not shop around for the best prices for their medical treatment. They just go to a preferred doctor and have no clue what the real costs are because insurance is paying most of it. When you have an HSA-supported account, and you're paying a larger percentage of the cost, you really need to be more aware of what the real costs are and shop around and negotiate prices for treatment the same way we do most everything else. If you just go to the doctor and say "treat me", he's going to ram it to you. The key point that this report really shows is that even when given a reason to pay more attention to their healthcare costs, people still won't do it.

I'm guessing the IRS loved the report since all that money that the 55% of participants didn't withdraw went right into the IRS's pot at the end of the year.

Really?

"HSAs were established as part of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act which was signed into law by President Bush on December 8, 2003. These accounts are a component of Consumer Driven Health Plans."

Wrong again...
"All deposits to an HSA become the property of the policyholder, regardless of the source of the deposit. Funds deposited but not withdrawn each year will carry over into the next year. If the policyholder ends participation in the HDHP, he or she loses eligibility to deposit further funds, but funds already in the HSA remain available for use."

I stand corrected. I was thinking about the MSAs.
