My dog started vomiting last night and then a few times during the night.. and once again this am.. Didn't feed her anything all day, and she has now vomited again. Pulled her water and not given any food for today (except some plain chicken) around noon.

She has now thrown up 3 more times( I guess from the chicken).

Any suggestions on what could help her?? If not better will be taking her to the vet on Monday...

She'll need her water. Even if she vomits afterward, she will dehydrate and be in worse shape without it. Maybe stay with her, let her lap up a little, then take it away so she doesn't have too much at once...Good luck!

Is this your new pup?
Did she get into something and eat it?
Toy, sock, string, any foreign object?
Is she running a temp? Is this a tummy bug?
How was her last poop? Look normal?
Did she eat normally at her last "normal" feeding or was she picky?

Snuzzy is right, she will need fluids...what she puts out, has to be replaced.
Ice cubes work well. I think there is a formula online for puppy gatorade..fluid replacement for dogs. Some of the pet stores may carry something that will help!.
Get some, make some and freeze it into cubes, then let her lap...that way she will go slow and not over do it.

Sub Q fluids might help if you know someone to do it and has the fluids.
You dont want her to get dehydrated!

Normally vomiting after 24 hours is reason to be concerned. Especially if you have with held food and fluids, as then you are getting bile, and body fluids.
Keep her warm, but not overheated.
Good Luck!

she is 9 years old, as far as I know she has not gotten into anything...

No, it is not her food, I feed her Purina One with frozen green beans or peas...sometimes carrotts..

We have been giving her small amounts of water since 2pm.. Really don't want to go to one of the ER Vets.. hope she can wait until Monday..

If she is vomiting like that still, you should take her to the Vet. Check the Vomit, and the Stool for Blood. My Dog had the Doggie Flu one year, and it almost killed her. They took X-Rays to look for obstruction, gave her SubQ Fluids, and I guess the Doggie version of Pepto Bismol. She was on the Boiled Chicken & Rice for about a week. I wish your Pup well.

Sometimes dogs get into a vomiting cycle. there is a med that shuts off the switch- so to speak, but I cant remember for the life of me what it is called. My old girl did this once. We ended up at the ER vet. One shot and she stopped the vomiting. Then just a bland diet for a few days. Hope she is better soon!

Human pepto bismol works also. I would not give any chicken yet, even that is too rich if she has a stomach upset. I would do just plain rice (with added water for the fluid factor) first it will be easier on her tummy. Small servings and if she keeps that down I would hold off on adding chicken for a day or so.
Good luck!

I'm at work, can't get the rice until the am... If she is not better in the am I will take her to that ER Vet in Prince Fred..

Thanks for all your input....

what is she throwing up? it is just bile at this point? if she hasn't pooped I would guess she has a blockage for some reason. what kind of dog? I wouldn't wait to take her to the vet but that is just me. Good Luck with her!

My friend, Lusby Scrapper, took her Boxer to the vet for the exact same thing yesterday. Puking only; not acting weird otherwise.
They did xrays and tests and nothing showed up. They told her to withhold food for the rest of the day and only give small sips of water; start on chicken and rice today. Have not heard how he is doing...
Not trying to downplay it and think you should take her to the vet if it continues. Giving her a little diluted pedialite; just not too much at once.
Hope she feels better :huggy:

I think the medicine that you are thinking about is called Phenergan, or Promethazine. It comes in Pills, and Injection. My Pup had to have the Injection form after being Spayed. She had a reaction to the Anesthesia. The Phenergan worked, and the next day, she was fine.
