Sidecar question

I saw a BMW bike with a sidecar a few days ago. Cool looking ride, modern bike (sorry, I don't know what model), BIG sidecar.

Got me to thinking about some questions. Does the sidecar have a brake on its wheel? Is there some way to balance the brakes on the bike with the brake on the sidecar? The whole contraption looks so awkward anyway, I imagine that no brakes on the sidecar would lead to some unscheduled directional changes as the bike slows and the car doesn't.

Anybody here have experience with them?

I was looking at one last year but got out bid. Google sidecar fourms. there are a few out there. One is a YAhoo group I was on two of them but don't remember which ones...
