True story - last week a customer left her card at the store. Employees put it in safe. No way to contact her. A couple days later she comes back in the store and employees recognize her so giver her card back to her. She was unaware she lost hit. Walks out of store and within minutes another customer walks in with a card in hand they had just found in the parking lot. Same person we just returned lost card to dropped in parking lot on way out. Not sure if she has been in to retrieve it this time or if she is even aware it is lost. Apparently she should not be allowed to have a credit card.
Having said that, we used to take the time to call the credit card company to report we had a customer card so they could contact the customer for retrieval. We found out the credit card companies are not set up to take calls for FOUND credit cards, only lost or stolen. It became too much of a hassle so now we hold cards in the safe for a week or two. If not claimed we cut up.
