The snake was not harmed. It was fed and put back in its cage in its owner's home Wednesday night.
This sounds like a good plan. Just put it away and figure everything will be OK as the snake continues to grow
Not that I advocate harming the snake, I just think people have gotten out of control with exotic pets. Any time I read that an exotic (or sometimes domestic) animal was killed because it attacked someone, I generally feel sorry for the animal. People expect their 'pets' to just disregard millions of years of evolution and just sit in their cage until they, 'their owners', are ready to interact with them.
Here in Chicago, there are several pet stores where I can go buy (among other pets) a scorpion, a python, or a tarantula. While I agree that these are all excellent choices for pets, I just don't understand the rationale behind the consumer who goes out and buys one; then when it inevitably gets out and hurts someone, they blame 'it' for getting out and kill it.
