Ubi bene ibi patria
"Simone Manuel swam a blistering final 50 in tonight’s 100m freestyle to earn a gold medal alongside Canadian Penny Oleksiak, who swam an identical Olympic-record 52.70 in the event. Both surpassed world record-holder Cate Campbell, who led the race after the first 50 meters and ended up missing the podium."

INTERVIEWER: How are we going to get rid of racism...?

FREEMAN: Stop talking about it. I'm going to stop calling you a white man. And I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man. I know you as [interviewer's name]. You know me as Morgan Freeman.

You know what makes this remarkable? That she swam like she's part fish, not that she swam as a black woman who's part fish.

Headline says "black"; article says "African-American". If you're going to assign names, at least be consistent.

To be honest, I watched the race and I only noticed the fact that NBC put the US flag and time graphic over her lane. I didn't pay attention to her "race" (i.e., color of her skin); I paid attention to her "race" (i.e., swimming).

"Simone Manuel Becomes First Black American Female Swimmer ..."

I don't get it. That subject line makes no sense.

Exactly. And why not just "USA swimmer Simone Manuel wins Olympic Gold!" Why do scum mouthbreathers like boy have to attach something racial to all their posts?

If you're trying to advance a narrative, you have to let the people know which narrative that is.

Maybe because, being black is a human deficiency? Maybe that is what they want us to think? It, apparently, being black, takes a lot of hard work, since it seems they are inferior to all others of the human race, so they would have us believe by their incessant whining of inequality, why they require special treatment, to overcome any mental and physical shortcomings in order to compete with Asians, Greeks, Russians, the world, etc, and white Americans. So when they win at something, they are super special. Maybe the title should read, "African Black girl, who lives in the USA, overcomes racial disability of having dark skin to win the gold - Beats out all non-dark skinned humans"? Or something along those lines.

Added: They wrote the headline the way they did because, you know, to bring the attention to the non-dark skinned people of the world to know of the amazing feat that was accomplished?

Like dark skinned people have never won a gold medal before.............hardly.
It would be news if a white skinned person won a track and field event.............sort of like "man bites dog".......
