Simple Algebra equation assitance.

I keep coming up with the same answer, the youngun comes up with a different answer.
so, I need an unbiased individual to work it out and show the answer so the youngun will believe that it really is possible that dad knows something.

please God come up with the same answer.. I could not take being wrong on this one.:killingme

x = -2
y = 3

since I cant write powers with the keyboard, or if I can I dont know how, I will use the ^ method. as in x to the 3rd would be x^3

y^-2[4x^3 + (5x)^4 + (-x)^-x]

even if you dont feel like showing work, as long as the answer is equal to what I came up with we are good.

youngun agrees to accept as correct this answer if it matches mine and she promises to clean the room as a form of apology for not admitting that I, her father is the superior being...

Sorry it's been at least 20 years since I had to worry my purty lil' head over algebra equations. I rely on hubby the engineer for all my math heavy lifting these days.

I'm a math 'tard. :ashamed:

the last time I did anything beyond counting how many cigarettes were left in the pack has been since 1984.. well sort of.
Im praying right now that I dont get slapped on this one and end up being a math tard in front of the skillet girl.

I was really sure of my answer until she showed me why she was right,,,, Alzheimer's sucks.

I've been getting better in Algebra as I re-learn while helping my son, but apparently I'm not good enough yet.
I'll be anxious to see what I'm doing wrong!

I had to edit it, I put an = where a + was supposed to be.
as luck would have it, youngun had to catch it.

Im shipping her off to hells kitchen or something.

There's supposed to be an equal sign at the end?
