I had been on a plan for $80 something for the year, got my bill for the new year and it was $180, wtf.

I call to cancel and of course they say oh how about $80 for the year, I feel somewhat insulted that they would just try to get an extra $100 out of me because oh what the hell and then act like they are doing me a favor by offering me the price it was supposed to be. So, I cancel. I got the bill in the mail yesterday, oh there is a $9.99 charge for the time used after my subscription expired....

I canceled out of principle, until companies realize practices like this cost them customers they will keep it up. Anyone remember trying to cancel AOL or Prodigy internet service in the 90's?

I had to dump them too. Partially for the cost increases and partially because all of the news, talk, and comedy channels are constant ads for penis enlargers, erectile dysfunction, and sex toys.

They tried the same thing, offering me as low as $25 to come back. If they wanted to keep me, they shouldn't have tried to gouge me.

I find that using my phone for music is far more convenient and cheaper.

I just got a renewal request for mine. $165/yr. Got 3 months free with the new truck. I don't think I want to renew. I only listen to 2 stations.

I totally remember trying to cancel AOL (the big scam of the internets)- they would try EVERYthing and was the first and only time I ever heard the term 'piggy backing' - meaning - I could have any ISP- but could 'piggy back' on to their chunk of the WWW for only 10/mo. Why? They were cute. Sirius or XM or whatever- ok, first off- why pay for music- its free all over and can be nabbed on to a thumb drive pretty easily. I never understood why this ever even took off- the channels were never that great. And then I started hearing stories about how they stick like glue when you try to cancel. Friend of mine fought for money back for months- not even sure how it ended-but she finally got away from them.

You mentioned AOL- makes me think of Columbia House back in the day. Theyd start sending the 'record of the week (or month)' or whatever- and a bill.... youd send the record back saying no thanks - and still get a bill... they were cute too.

When I bought the car I have now in 2008 I paid around $300 for a lifetime subscription for Sirius XM. If I had gone with your plan at $80 a month I would have dropped $560 by now and would still be paying month to month. And the plan I got is transferable to any vehicle I buy in the future that has Sirius reception.
