Six St. Mary's College of Maryland students were selected to present their research at the 2023 Phi Alpha Theta (National History Honors Society) Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference on March 25 at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. The students and their research topics are as follows: Sophie Hannah '23 (The Changing American Definition of Femininity and Women’s Gender Expectations from 1925 to 1935); Ben Johnson '25 (Differentiating the “Führer” from the “True” Hitler); Eleanor Pratt '24 (A Reforming Spirit: Gender Anxieties and Spiritualism in the Progressive Era); Chrissy Ringel '24 (A Historiography of the American Postal Service); Mortimer Shiflett '27 (The Importance of the Soviet Air Force During World War II); and Jordan Williams '23 (Helen Keller’s Radical Progressive Activism).
