WICHITA, Kansas (AP) -- A sixth-grader stabbed to death a mother duck and two ducklings that had nested near a school, distressing the other children and alarming officials who said the boy needs mental health treatment.

Students at Wilbur Middle School had named the mother duck Lucy and were monitoring her and her brood, making sure no one disturbed the nest in a grassy creek bed. Their mutilated bodies -- stabbed with a pencil -- were found this week.

An announcement over the public address system led the boy to admit the killings, officials said. They said he had also talked about the act to classmates and didn't understand why it was wrong.

No decision has been made on possible criminal charges.

Killing mallard ducks is illegal this time of year, and even in hunting season, the way they were killed would be illegal, officials said.
I guess he didn't draw a map of the nesting area or they haven't found it yet.

Isnt that one of the tell tale signs of a serial killer? It seems like a lot of them had at least that trait in common, torturing and killing animals when they were young...

Sicko little bastard, Id like to poke him in the head with a pencil till he bleeds, see how he likes it

I watched part of (my "guys" came in, so I couldn't finish it!) a Korean movie, forget the name, but the "clip" I watched showed the young protege' torturing a snake by tying a rock to it and laughing as it struggled. The teacher/monk tied a rock (big and heavy) to the boy's back as he slept and told the boy when he woke up, "I will take the rock off your back after you free the snake (and a few other animals, must have happened before I tuned in), but if you find the snake/animals dead, you will carry the rock in your heart the rest of your life"....we have become so worried about hurting children's "self esteem" we/society have forgotten how to train/teach them about life. Life is hard, and when you do something wrong, you should feel bad. I think it's the lack of "natural consequences" that have enabled some of these kids to get as bad as they have...
