I was always told tomato juice.

My sister ended up using lime juice. Said it worked better.
Whateveh you do don't let him in no matter how sad he looks. She let her dog in and they had to leave.

Box baking soda..bottle peroxide...1/2 bottle dawn....have fun..

Paso is a 100% correct and I had to repeat the process a couple different times when my fathers dog was sprayed by a skunk. Still had a little funky smell to him for awhile, but in time it will go away.

He's a Jack Russell, right? Mine's a JR/Bulldog mix, and he's gotten it three times in the last year. You'd think he'd learn! He's such a little hardhead.

If he got it in the eye - once you clean him up using Paso's mix - you may want to take him to the vet or flush that eye yourself.

okay... I used paso's mixture (thank you!) and he is 95% deskunked... there is a slight scent around his nose/face where he must've been directly sprayed...although he never set foot in the house, it smelled of skunk in here last night. The screen door let the odor in for about 15 minutes until we all realized what it was...so this morning, after his baths, the fans are on high, windows open, febreezed throw rugs and bedroom carpet, and set out bowls of Baking soda. After I came back in from feeding the horses, it is much much better. I hope hope hope he never goes near another skunk again. None of my other Jacks ever encountered one.

here he is.. I think his eye is fine.. I squirted some saline in it after the bath. He is a little tired, I bet, since his bed last night was the back porch. The little stinker.

My sister called this morning and I told her to use these products. She called back and said it didn't work. Please let me know exactly what to do and how long to leave the products on the dog. I would greatly appreciate it and so would my sister and her dog.

Well, I think it made a tremendous difference after one wash.. but would recommend at least one additional bath. He still had a faint scent about him for a couple weeks, especially after he got a little morning dew on him.. but it was totally tolerable compared to the first night.
They just had mythbusters on last week and the perox, dishsoap, baking soda formula was the only one that really worked.
