Hello. Can anyone recommend a good cabin rental for on/near Skyline Drive? My in-laws are coming next month and would like to do a couple night trip to see the fall colors. Would need to accomodate 5. Thanks!

It is most likely too late. Last time I looked into it, they book out weekends up to 18 months ahead of time.

^This^ but call around - maybe you'll get lucky. If you can go during the week you'll have a better chance.

There are cabin rentals just outside of Luray Caverns. If they've never visited Luray before it would be a great experience for them to tour the caverns.

spent a week up at this place, this summer- Hensley Hollow Lodge Very relaxing, plenty of space. About 5 minutes away from Swift Run Gap (US 33) entrance to Sky Line Drive. There is even a Hensley Hollow overlook, where you can see the lodge, on sky line drive. Not many weekends open, for the place next month, but plenty of week nights....

We stayed here last year during a motorcycle adventure of Skyline Drive. http://www.goshenandoah.com/Big-Meadows-Lodge.aspx

I don't recall how far in advance we had to make reservations, but will say that the stay was nice. Comfortable (not fancy) cabins with great views. Good food and a pretty decent (fun) little bar down in the basement of the main lodge where they had a small bar, good service and moonshine.

Many years ago, my ex and I used to spend a weekend every October in a cabin at Big Meadows Lodge. It was a small, one room cabin with a bathroom just up from the main lodge. Very fond memories. We used to make reservations for October in January when they first opened up their reservation calendar.
