Anyone have good experiences sending their children to a sleep away camp and what are some good ones in the MD, DC, VA area?

We used one over by Annapolis that was great. I can't remember the name of it, but there were horses and pools and waterskiing and canoeing, etc., etc. I'll try to remember. It's been forever.

I have no clue but want to piggy back on your thread. :flowers:

When I was 7yrs old (almost 8) I went to the DC Family and Child Services camp called Camp Pleasant and the opposite side of our camp was Camp Goodwill. I have no clue where they were located. Anyone heard of those and know? TIA :flowers:

My boys will be going the their first overnight camp this year. They will be spending a week in Towsen at wrestling camp. It was one of the closer camps that they wanted to go to. We thought about the camp they have a St. Mary's City but they couldn't go together ( they are 6 and 8). I also think DNR has some high adventure camps the boys choose but they didn't meet the age requirements. So they will he hanging out at Matapani camp on base when they are not in wrestling camp.

... Am I the only one who thought of the cheesy, yet great, Sleepaway Camp movies from the 80's when they saw this thread?

Ya know, the one with Angela, who was a boy forced to dress as a girl and who eventually became a girl and took her rage out on all the fornicating teenagers in the camps she was at as either a camper or a counselor?
