How about Picasa3 its free. I think you can also do it with Adobe Premier Elements usually comes free with a camcorder or you can also download Sony Vegas pro 30 trial for free and use it till timer expires.

OpenOffice. It has a PowerPoint equivalent. Free.

Also, Movie Maker, part of Windows XP. You can use stills, videos, captures, whatever, and it has a separate sound track to add your own music.

That's actually a whole different discussion. I think there is a thread somewhere on it... you need software that will put your movie on a DVD in DVD format. It has a different file structure than a simple wmf or avi file. That's not to say if you have a CD or DVD player that can play wmf files, you could create what's called a VCD or VDVD (Video CD or Video DVD).

Some writer software that comes with burners have the capability to make DVDs in DVD player format. I think Sonic DVD v7 or higher does.

I have and use Nero Vision 4. It is relatively easy to use and it will play on TV, or PC or even in the Digital Frames. You can add music to it also.
Movie Maker is relatively easy also. Haven't done much with it.

I have no idea what any of that stuff I just quoted means BUT I used movie maker for a DVD last year and had no issues watching it on any DVD player.
