Anyone tried any of these SmartHome starter kits?
I was telling my fiancee that I plan on getting one of the home lighting kits to play with once we get our new house. They're relatively inexpensive at only $100.

After figuring that out, I may move forward to setting up a security and surveillance system.

They work real well. Very expandable. I've installed several and they are nice. You can get up in price but it only adds to the value of your home. :yay:

Sleuth, the link that Chasey gave you was one of the best out for the price. This is what I'm installing in most of my clients houses. The options for this system are great. The media controller comes with a 80-gig hard drive, that you can burn CD and MP3's to play anywhere in the house. It also can control cameras, TV's, Lights, music and also use WiFi to control ur remotes, lights. This controller is off the hook. I will soon be installing this system in my house.

daydreamer.. how is it for expandability?
I like the smarthome solutions because it allows me to start small and build up over time. Also, when I was looking at the control4 website, it seemed they didnt' have a lot of products. For example, I didn't see anything for the garage or home security.

You can start out small and work ur way up.
They don't have any security stuff yet but they can go with any security system out. The garage is easy, just run the relay/contact from the garage to the media controller and from ur remote u can open or close it from anywhere in the house. I have a DVD demo that I could get to you "its about 30 minutes if that" that tells you all the things you can do with Control4. Just PM me and I can meet you.
