The St. Mary’s Animal Welfare League (SMAWL) is always in need of foster homes. SMAWL does not currently have a shelter, so our animals are kept in foster homes while waiting their furever homes. Therefore, we can only rescue as many dogs and cats as we have foster homes for. There are always more animals who need rescued than there are foster homes to house them. Fostering is very rewarding! There is no feeling like knowing that because of you, a dog or cat was given a second chance at life. Many of these dogs and cats have been abused, neglected or abandon and all they want is someone to love them, reassure them, and provide them with a safe haven. SMAWL will provide the food and veterinarian care, if you will provide the love and safe haven. Saying goodbye to your foster cat or dog is sometimes difficult, but when you see the happiness in their eyes when they meet their furever families it makes it all worthwhile. Besides just around the corner is another dog or cat who is waiting for the special love and attention that only a foster home can provide. We need you now! If by now you are saying, "How do I get started?" Then let me say it couldn't be easier.
