St. Mary's Animal Welfare League (SMAWL) will begin their March thru November Low Cost Rabies Clinic on Monday, March 12. The clinic will be held every second Monday of the month at the St. Mary's County Fairgrounds on Rte. 5 in Leonardtown from 6-8pm. The cost for the rabies vaccination is $10 for all animals including horses. To receive a 3 year vaccination owners MUST present a current unexpired rabies CERTIFICATE. Rabies tags cannot be accepted. Dogs must be on a leash and cats/ferrets must be in humane carriers. Owners with multiple or agressive animals should leave their pets in their vehicle for vaccination. Horses do not have to leave their trailers to receive the shot. For more information call 301-373-5659 or go to www.smawl.org.

will you do a distemper and parvo also? And what if the rabies is overdue by a year or more?

The county Health Department only gives SMAWL permission to do rabies vaccinations. The expired certificate is an issue if you want a three year vaccination. You must present an unexpired certificate to receive a three vaccination. These are state regulations. Your animal can receive a one year vaccination even if the certificate is expired or if you don't have a certificate.

Happycatt gave me some flyers today....

$7.00 for rabies, $12.00 for distemper vaccine and $20 for micro-chipping, Sunday March 18th from 1-3 pm at the Humane Society in St. Charles.

I will be going. My entire crew is due the middle of the month for shots.

Oh, I have a question about chipping. Is this a simple thing to have done?

And how bad are they going to hate me. :ohwell: I want to get the dog and my female cat chipped. My male came chipped.

Its no big deal at all. It really is just an injection given under the skin in between the shoulder blades.

That's good to know. :yay: What's the cost for that? Is there a multi-cat discount?

It was much simpler than I thought and they didn’t yelp or anything.

I packed up the crew and got there about 12:20 p.m. and got in line. Both of my wonderful felines decided to poop and pee in their crate. My female hung two of her claws just above my left eye before I got her in the crate. They started right on time, got everyone thru quick and were fantastic in helping me clean the cages a little bit. My dog even got his nails clipped.

After we left there, we went to a lunch thingy and my youngest told people there that his cat was going to be in a better mood now, because he had his “temper” shot.

I think my kitty is very sorry about punching me in the eye. She has been all over me this evening. :blushing:
