LEONARDTOWN, MD (December 4, 2024) – The St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) will be closed on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. for employee activities. This includes the main office in Leonardtown and all satellite offices. Normal operations will resume on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Is it my imagination or is this government agency constantly shutting down every couple of months for “employee activities”? Do other government agencies/departments close this much or is the health dept the only one that advertises it here so we don’t know when the other departments close?

Don't know about other government agencies but, it sure seems that the public schools either close, have early dismissals, or "teacher training days" more than any other place I have ever lived.
