Lauren Swam '19, Isaac Hersh '19, and Colin Cassady '19, recently had a firsthand experience studying marine ecology on the coral reefs of Belize. Interviewed for The Naturalist Podcast (http://www.naturalistpodcast.com/th...n-carrie-bow-cay-with-lauren-isaac-and-colin/), the three shared their encounters towing through seagrass beds, snorkeling mangrove forests, and doing research on coral reefs with Seabird McKeon, visiting professor in the biology department. This is the first St. Mary's College group to stay at the Smithsonian run field station (https://naturalhistory2.si.edu/ccre/), and the three made the most of their experience coming back with new insights into reef herbivory, swimming with sharks, and science after graduation.
