The CDC removed the mask requirements when the weekly rate of deaths reached 590. The CDC is now starting to request that masks be mandatory again with the weekly death rate at 286. If 500 is good enough to remove masks, then why is 300 bad? Oh wait things are getting back to normal...so let's make things sound worse so people will panic.

I almost called a school board member last night to raise hell over the new policy but I don’t have any kids in school that will be affected by this. What’s the saying - not my circus not my elephant? I’m still pissed About this but I would rather save my energy for the circuses that have my animals in them.

Monkeys. Not my circus, not my monkeys.

Monkey's, damn it. When monkeys cause chaos, people laugh, when elephants do it, the scream and run around...

I used to look at the graph they "had" on the St. Marys Health Dept website for the number of Covid deaths.
This, to me, is the most important data. I don't care how easily it spreads, or how many people have it - I care about how lethal it is.
Well... they took that graph down quite a while ago - wonder why. :sarcasm:
So now I look at the number of deaths in St. Marys residents in any jurisdiction - it's been at 132 for a loooong time.
and 90 of those deaths were in nursing homes, which also hasn't changed for a loooong time.... hmmmm.....

Not when they have to lay off scores of teachers, (ahem, sorry, educators), because their budget has been slashed due to very low enrollments.
 And you really think the teachers(educators) union will allow that??? No, they will raise taxes so they won't have to lay off teachers(educators).

Unions only have agreements, not contracts, with the school board. Which can be ignored, at will, by the school board, if it chooses to do so. What is the "Union" going to do? Stomp its feet and pout? They have no power. I would like to think that if push came to shove, those commissioners in office will listen to the public and reduce the monies allocated to the school board, thereby not necessitating the need to raise taxes, should school enrollments drop precipitously due to homeschooling.

At least that's what I say to myself anyways.

Yes, but the teachers have contracts with the school board, which are based on the agreements from the union.

Plus, there are quite a few people working for the schools that are leaving because they are tired of all the nonsense that ties their hands and prevents them from doing the job they want to do.

Actually, no. They are simply government employees who are members of, and represented by, a political organization that enters into agreements with the school board on their behalf.

Teachers are under a yearly contract with the school system. Unions help to negotiate these contracts.
