SMECO Power Meters

Not sure that this is a factor here but a lot of the new meters are digital and I noticed my laptop on occasion which is in dining room almost adjacent to meter drops on occasion. Just loses sync with router. I go to back bedroom and all is fine with rest of equipment and main computer. Anyways, saw the article on DSL Reports; "http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Power-Utility-Smart-Meters-Causing-Router-Interference-117120", and see if anybody has noticed this too. Thanks!

not only that most are easy to hack into

Has anyone else had a SMECO rep come to their door letting homeowners know that he's just checking the meters/equipment to make sure all is up to par so customers are ensured to get their rebates? I should've asked for i.d. but didn't. Kind of ignorant as to what could be done from the outside of the house, but thought I'd ask ya'll. Maybe I should call SMECO & see if it's legit?

If your meter is in an open area I wouldn't bother calling. A person wanting to cause you harm normally would not let you know they are there. If it is in a house or other out of sight area then call first to verify before letting them in.
