I gave them a rawhide bone last week. First they looked at it like  WTF do I do with it? Well they soon found out and devoured it!! And 2 more since. They are still in the puppy chewing stage. So what else can I get for them? I don't think an abundance of rawhide bones is good for them. Dentabones??? Any ideas? I need something to keep them from my chewing on my furniture!! (one already did damage to the quilt rack my FIL made for me, in 30 seconds with those sharp teeth).
Rawhide is not good for dogs. It can become lodged in throat, stomach, and/or intestines and can cause blockages. Kong toys are great and you can put peanut butter in them for an added treat. Did you say they were Springers? Look for a Springer forum and see what they recommend for fun chewies.

Thanks! But I can't take the credit. A g/f picked the names. They like them better then what they came with too (sherlock & watson)

When mine were pups, I had the same problem. Chewed legs on sofa and coffee table :( I had read about putting socks on the wooden legs and tried it (had to use a rubber band to hold them up and looked kind of blah) but it worked! Might be worth a try on yours :) Good luck!

So we're doing the training thing with a elec. fence...........
I would never do that to my dogs.
The house I bought had the electric fence, so I zapped myself (never said I was a smart person) to feel what my pups would feel. Guess what, never again will I do that to myself, or my dogs.

I hate to do it also. It's a last resort kind of thing. I'd rather do this to him then have him get mushed on mattapany rd. He's smart-he'll get the hang of it real quick.
They get zapped going and coming back home. Good luck with the coming back part.

Try training your dog the proper way.

Whisper in his ear to stay in the fenced yard.

Your funny! I did see Elaine's thread about the guy and his technique-I'd love to see him in action in person! Pretty damn awesome.

BTW-I do tell him every time he goes out to stay in the yard(in my most loving voice)! And I am also (every day) walking him around his boundries in hopes he gets the idea before we do the other.
