smoked salmon

I am making a recipe for my mother (smoked salmon dip) and the first time I made it I used the smoked salmon that was kinda flat and looked like it was sliced (norweigen I think) and it turned out perfectly yummy... well my mom just brought by some smoked salmon and it is an actual piece/filet of salmon. Does anyone have an experience w/ this type of salmon? Will it work the same way as the other salmon?

It breaks up like regular and doesn't stay in a uniform slice like the salmon you first used. I like the salmon filet the best.

It should be fine.

The other one was moist and this one just looks like it will be a little bit drier.

Thanks... I hope so, we have a party this evening and she wanted me to make it so she could bring it as her dish to share and I didnt want it to be awful or anything

I've used smoked salmon from our smoker in a salmon dip before. Just break it up real well if it's got a tougher texture.

OOO what kind of smoker do you have?

Hubby has two. One is electric and the other I don't think is. I pay no attention to it except if he goes somewhere and I have to throw some chunks of mesquite or whatever he is using. He smokes ribs, salmon, beef. Not much in the winter, but in the summer he uses it. He's done bluefish in the past, which I loved.

Awesome I got one for Christmas and feel like I'm back home. I think B got tired of me saying I can't get good Q around here and decided to get one to shut me up.
